Save a tooth, bring a smile

Root Canal Treatment

Our teeth are made up of three layers, namely the Enamel, Dentin and Pulp. When the deepest layer, the pulp, gets infected/inflamed it can result in a considerable amount of pain for the patient.

When left untreated, the infection in the pulp can spread to the adjacent tissues, causing more harm to the tooth and leading to its eventual removal.

Root Canal Treatment is an endodontic procedure that is done in order to save the tooth when its deepest layer is affected by decay/cavity, trauma, and/or infection.

Root canal procedure is usually performed to treat the infected pulp/nerve. If you are suffering from any of the following you might need a root canal treatment:

  • Pain that could be mild, moderate or severe. It can be spontaneous/sharp or constant/dull.
  • Prolonged case of tooth sensitivity to hot/cold temperature.
  • History of trauma to the tooth causing pain
  • A swelling near the tooth. Sometimes you may even notice a small pimple-like elevation in the gums near the tooth.

How is it done?

The treatment is done by our in-house Root Canal Specialist/ Endodontist in a single visit or multiple visits depending on the amount of infection present.

  1. After administering local anaesthesia, the decay is removed to reach the root canals.
  2. The infected pulp tissue is removed out, the canals are then cleaned thoroughly.
  3. The clean root canals are now filled with an inert filling material.
  4. The tooth is finally restored and prepared to receive a crown restoring its form and function.

It is a common misconception that Root canal procedures are painful. At American Smiles, our top priority is your comfort and dental health. Our state of art facilities and expert team of doctors are always happy to help you and ease your pain..
